Abstract
The Cover of the current issue of the Sudanese Journal of Paediatrics (SJP) highlights the great loss of the pyramid of child health in Sudan, regionally and internationally and pays tribute to Professor Gaafar Ibnauf Suliman, President of the Sudan Association of Paediatricians (SAP, 1991-2001), founder of Gaafar Ibnauf Children’s Hospital, one of the founders of the Scientific Council of Pediatrics at the Arab Board of Health Specialization, and member of the Editorial Board of SJP (see Editorial). His photo overlays the pyramids of the Napta/Meroitic Kingdom (800BC-350AD), depicting the heritage of Sudan and its civilization (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mero%C3%AB). Also shown is the Meroitic script, the indigenous alphabet consisting of 23 letters, which has been developed in the Naptan Period at about 700-300BC. The Arabic script of the ‘Sudanese Journal of Paediatrics’, reflecting the current main language and culture, was designed at the College of Fine and Applied Arts, Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST), by Taha El Atta, PhD.
